Post PCT

🇳🇱 Inmiddels is het al 2 weken geleden dat wij in Kennedy Meadows aankwamen en daarmee de Pacific Crest Trail volledig gelopen hebben. Totaal 4.270km: ongeveer 3.200km in 2019 en bijna 1.100km nu in 2023.
Wij zijn weer een unieke ervaring rijker. Hoe mooi de natuur kan zijn, waar een mens toe in staat is, zowel fysiek als mentaal, hoe weinig we eigenlijk nodig hebben om te leven zijn slechts een klein deel van onze ervaring.
Het was mooi, het was zwaar. Er zijn momenten geweest dat wij ons afgevraagd hebben waar wij mee bezig waren. Wij hebben met open mond genoten van de meest geweldige uitzichten. Wij hebben ons trots gevoeld. Heel af en toe vonden wij elkaar minder aardig. Als een deel van de tent in mijn rugzak zit en het andere deel in die van Marc dan kan je al vrij snel elkaar weer aardig vinden😜
De kostbaarste herinneringen zijn zonder twijfel de herinneringen aan de mensen die wij onderweg hebben ontmoet. Zoveel lieve mensen die ons geholpen hebben en zoveel met ons gedeeld hebben. Allemaal blijven ze in onze gedachten. Met een aantal van hen hebben wij nog steeds contact en hopen dat dit heel lang zo zal blijven ❤️
Een lange afstandspad is hard werken 😓. Dus een vakantie na afloop is eigenlijk een noodzaak. Samen met onze vriendin Jen genieten wij een week lang van Los Angeles, San Diego en mooie plaatsjes tussen die twee grote steden. In het verleden heeft onze vriend Jim zijn liefde voor Hawaii met ons gedeeld. Mede door zijn enthousiasme vonden wij dat een bezoek aan de eilanden een mooie afsluiting zou zijn van ons avontuur. En wederom staan Jim en zijn gezin voor ons klaar. Wij mogen gebruik maken van hun appartement op Hawaii, Big Island 😊
Ik hoop maar dat wij ook goede mensen weten te zijn 🙏🏻

🇪🇸 Mientras tanto, ya han pasado 2 semanas desde que llegamos a Kennedy Meadows y terminamos nuestra caminata del Pacific Crest Trail. 4.270 quilómetros en total, aproximadamente 3.200 km en el 2019 y alrededor de 1.100 km ahora en 2023.
Otra experiencia única. Lo hermosa que puede ser la naturaleza, lo que una persona es capaz de hacer, tanto físicamente como mentalmente, lo poco que realmente necesitamos para ser felices son sólo una pequeña parte de lo que hemos aprendido.
Ha sido precioso, ha sido difícil. Hubo momentos en los que realmente nos preguntamos qué diablos estábamos haciendo. Vimos las vistas más impresionantes y las admiramos con la boca abierta. Nos sentimos orgullosos. De vez en cuando no nos considerábamos muy simpáticos el uno al otro. Pero cuando una parte de la tienda está en mi mochila y la otra parte en la mochila de Marc, uno rápidamente vuelve a apreciar al otro😜
Nuestros recuerdos más preciados son sin duda los recuerdos de las personas que hemos conocido. Tanta gente encantadora que nos ayudó y compartió tanto con nosotros. Todos están en nuestros recuerdos y en nuestros corazones. Con algunos seguimos en contacto y esperamos seguir por mucho tiempo ❤️
Recorrer un sendero de larga distancia es un trabajo duro 😓 Por eso, una vez terminado, unas vacaciones son imprescindibles. Durante toda una semana y junto con nuestra amiga Jen disfrutamos de Los Ángeles, San Diego y otros lugares hermosos entre estas dos grandes ciudades. En el pasado, nuestro amigo Jim compartió con nosotros su amor por Hawaii. En parte debido a su entusiasmo, pensamos que una visita a las islas sería un buen fin para nuestra aventura. Y una vez más Jim y su familia están ahí para ayudarnos. Nos ofrecen su apartamento en la Isla Grande de Hawaii😊
Solo espero que nosotros también sepamos ser buenas personas 🙏🏻

🇬🇧 Meanwhile it has been 2 weeks since we arrived at Kennedy Meadows and completed hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Total 2.680mi/4,270km: approximately 2,000mi/3,200km in 2019 and around 700mi/1,100km now in 2023.
Another unique experience gained. How beautiful nature can be, what a person is capable of, both physically and mentally, how little we actually need to be happy are only a small part of what we learnt.
It was beautiful, it was hard. There were times when we actually wondered what the hxxx we were doing. We saw the most amazing views and admired them open-mouthed. We felt proud. Every now and then we didn’t like each other that much. But if one part of the tent is in my backpack and the other part in Marc’s backpack you’ll have to quickly start liking each other again😜
Our most precious memories are without doubt the memories of the people we have met. So many lovely people who helped us and shared so many things with us. They all remain in our thoughts and our hearts. With some we are still in contact and we hope to stay for a long time ❤️
Hiking a long distance trail is hard work 😓 So a holiday when done is actually a must. For a whole week and together with our friend Jen we enjoyed Los Angeles, San Diego and other beautiful places between those two big cities. In the past, our friend Jim shared his love for Hawaii with us. Partly because of his enthusiasm, we thought that a visit to the islands would be a great end to our adventure. And once again Jim and his family are there for us. They offer us their place on the Big Island of Hawaii😊
I just hope we too know how to be good people 🙏🏻
