Belden-Sierra City

🇳🇱 Ook hier lopen dingen soms anders dan gepland. Vanuit Sacramento hebben wij een aantal dozen met eten vooruitgestuurd. Dit hebben wij in het verleden vaker gedaan en heeft altijd goed gewerkt. En inderdaad het gaat altijd goed totdat het niet goed gaat😌. Onze eerste doos zouden wij in Belden ophalen. Eten voor het volgende stuk van ongeveer 6 dagen. Helaas onze doos was hier niet. Onze doos blijkt in Pine Crest te zijn, dat ligt op 4,5 uur rijden van waar het had moeten zijn 🤷🏻‍♀️. Er is een winkeltje hier waar wij iets kunnen kopen. Voornamelijk repen en koeken. Mijn favorieten🤪. Het is niet anders. Drie dames die een stuk van het pad lopen geven ons nog wat van hun eten. Met tranen in onze ogen bedanken wij hun voor zulk groots gebaar. Ook nodigen zij ons bij hun thuis uit. Twee van hun wonen in stadjes waar wij onderweg naar toe zullen gaan voor eten, douchen en wassen.
Wij krijgen hun telefoonnummers zodat wij ze kunnen bellen om opgehaald te worden.
Wat een geluk hebben wij!
Het pad wordt wat piekerig, dat wil zeggen veel dalen en dus ook veel klimmen.
Dit komt door de rivieren. Hier maken wij dankbaar gebruik van om lekker te badderen 🎊.
Onze tent heeft nu al een klein gaatje. Een knaagdier vond het nodig om zijn tandjes erin te zetten. Gelukkig hoorden wij gerommel en is de schade beperkt.
Ondanks de warmte hebben we de laatste dagen wel sneeuw gezien. Kleine stukjes die (nog) niet gesmolten zijn maar dit ligt niet op het pad. Hopelijk blijft dit zo als wij binnenkort ruim boven de 2.500 meter gaan lopen.
Met een beetje geluk is er nog een kamer beschikbaar hier in het hotel in Sierra City. Eindelijk douchen! Ik durf niet op te schrijven hoeveel dagen wij niet gedoucht hebben 😬. Muggen vallen mij over het algemeen niet lastig. Zeker niet als Marc in de buurt is. Ik merk dat dit verandert. Zou het iets met mijn nieuwe geur te maken hebben? 🤪

🇪🇸 Aquí , como en cualquier otro lugar, las cosas no siempre salen según plan. Desde Sacramento avanzamos algunas cajas de comida a diferentes puntos en el camino. Lo hemos hecho muchas veces en el pasado y siempre ha funcionado bien. Y de hecho siempre funciona hasta que no funciona😌. Se suponía que íbamos a recoger nuestra primera caja en Belden. Comida para el próximo tramo de unos 6 días. Desafortunadamente nuestra caja no llegó aquí. Nuestra caja resulta estar en Pine Crest, que está a 4,5 horas en coche de donde debería haber llegado 🤷🏻‍♀️. Hay una tienda aquí donde podemos comprar algo. Principalmente barritas y galletas. Mis favoritos 🤪. Es lo que hay. Tres señoras que están haciendo un tramo nos dan algo de su comida. Con lágrimas en los ojos les agradecemos este gran gesto. También nos invitan a su casa. Dos de ellas viven en pueblos a los que tendremos que ir a por comida, ducha y lavandería. Nos dan sus números de teléfono para que podamos llamarlas para venir a recogernos.¡Qué suerte tenemos!
El camino empieza a ser algo irregular, lo que significa mucho descensos y por lo tanto también muchos ascensos. Esto se debe a los ríos. Muy contentos de poder tomar un buen baño en ellos🎊.
Nuestra tienda ya tiene un pequeño agujero. Un roedor consideró necesario clavarle los dientes. Afortunadamente escuchamos sus ruidos y pudimos limitar el daño.
A pesar del calor, hemos visto nevar los últimos días. Pequeños parches que (todavía) no se han derretido. Esos no están en el camino. Esperemos que esto siga así cuando estemos por encima de los 2.500 metros
Con un poco de suerte, habrá una habitación disponible en el hotel de Sierra City. ¡Por fin ducha! No me atrevo a escribir cuántos días no nos hemos duchado 😬. Los mosquitos generalmente no me molestan. Ciertamente no cuando Marc está cerca. Noto que esto está cambiando. ¿Podría tener algo que ver con mi nuevo perfume? 🤪

🇬🇧Here, like anywhere else things don’t always go as planned. From Sacramento we forwarded a few boxes of food ahead to places on trail. We have done this many times in the past and it has always worked out well. And indeed it always goes well until it doesn’t go 😌. We were supposed to pick up our first box in Belden. Food for the next stretch of about 6 days. Unfortunately our box didn’t get there. Our box turns out to be in Pine Crest, which is a 4.5 hour drive from where it should have been 🤷🏻‍♀️. There is a store here so we can buy some stuff. Mainly bars and biscuits. My favorites 🤪. It is what it is. Three ladies who are hiking a section of the trail give us some of their food. With tears in our eyes we thank them for such a great gesture. They also invite us to their home. Two of them live in towns where we will have to go for food, shower and laundry.
We get their phone numbers so we can call them to be picked up.
How do we get this lucky!
The path becomes a bit jagged, which means a lot of descending and therefore also a lot of climbing.
This is because of the rivers. We gratefully use them to take a nice bath 🎊.
Our tent already has a small hole. A rodent found it necessary to sink its teeth into it. Fortunately we heard rumbling and w’re able to limit the damage.
Despite the heat, we have seen snow the last few days. Small patches that have not (yet) melted. Those are not on the trail. Hopefully it remains like this when we get above 2,500meters/7.500feet
With a bit of luck, there will be a room available at the hotel in Sierra City. Finally we can take a shower! I don’t dare to write down how many days we haven’t showered 😬. Mosquitoes generally don’t bother me. Certainly not when Marc is around. I notice this is changing. Could it have something to do with my new fragrance? 🤪
