Tehachapi

🇳🇱Wat is het fijn om even het lichaam tot rust te laten komen! Maandagavond zijn wij in het stadje Tehachapi aangekomen. Het is leuk om te weten dat Tehachapi zware/moeilijk klim betekent in de taal van de Kawaiisu indianen, wij begrijpen wel waarom! Helaas aan al het goede komt een einde en zijn wij ons nu aan het klaarmaken om vanmiddag (donderdagmiddag), zodra het iets minder heet wordt in de zon, te gaan lopen. Alles is weer schoon. Wij hebben zelfs onze rugtassen gewassen. Aan die van mij zat echt zo’n geur die de wenkbrauwen deed fronsen, de ogen sluiten, de neus heel hoog ophalen en het hoofd wegdraaien! De eet-tassen zijn gevuld voor 5-6 dagen en onze magen hebben weer overuren gedraaid. Als wij in een stad of dorp zijn loop ik de hele dag rond met het gevoel dat ik normaal alleen maar heb na een bezoek aan een sushi restaurant waar je onbeperkt kunt eten: ik klap uit elkaar! De laatste dagen is onze Amerikaanse vriendin Jenny ook bij ons geweest. Zij heeft nog steeds erg veel last van haar voeten en moet langer rust nemen. Vanmiddag zullen wij afscheid van haar nemen😢Hopelijk hersteld zij snel en kunnen wij over een tijdje samen met haar ons pad vervolgen. Met een tas vol met eten, water voor 27 km, lekker ruikend in onze schone kleren zijn wij klaar voor de volgende 135 km tot aan Walker Pass.

🇪🇸¡Qué agradable es dejar descansar el cuerpo! El lunes por la tarde llegamos a la pequeña ciudad de Tehachapi. Es simpático saber que Tehachapi significa escalada dura / difícil en el idioma de la tribu india de los Kawaiisu, ¡entendemos el por qué! Desafortunadamente, todas las cosas buenas llegan a su fin y ahora nos estamos preparando para caminar esta tarde (jueves por la tarde) tan pronto el sol caliente un poco menos. Todo vuelve a estar limpio. Incluso hemos lavado nuestras mochilas. ¡La mia tenía tan mal olor que hacía que las cejas se fruncieran, los ojos se cerraran, la nariz se levantara a lo alto y la cabeza se girara! Las bolsas de comida están llenas para 5 a 6 días y nuestros estómagos han trabajado horas extra. Cuando estamos en una ciudad o pueblo, yo estoy todo el día con la sensación de que normalmente solo tengo una visita a un restaurante de sushi donde se puede comer sin límites: ¡que exploto! Nuestra amiga americana Jenny también ha estado con nosotros estos días. Todavía tiene muchos problemas con los pies y tiene que descansar más tiempo. Esta tarde tendremos que despedirnos de ella😢Esperemos que se recupere rápido y podamos continuar nuestro camino con ella dentro de algún tiempo. Con una bolsa llena de comida, agua para 27 km, oliendo bien en nuestra ropa limpia, estamos listos para los próximos 135 km hasta Walker Pass.

🇬🇧 It is so nice to let the body relax for some time! Monday evening we arrived in the little town of Tehachapi. It is nice to know that Tehachapi means hard climb in the language of the Kawaiisu Indians, we understand why! Unfortunately all good things come to an end and we are now preparing to hike out this afternoon (Thursday afternoon) as soon as the sun gets a little less hot. Everything is clean again. We have even washed our backpacks. The smell on mine was such that it made the eyebrows frown, shut the eyes, raise the nose very high, and turn the head away! The food bags are filled for 5-6 days and our stomachs have worked overtime again. When we are in a town or village the whole day I walk around with the feeling that I normally only have after a visit to an all you can eat sushi restaurant: I’m gonna explode! Our American friend Jenny has also been with us in the last days. She still has a lot of problems with her feet and has to take a longer rest. We will have to say goodbye to her this afternoon😢 Hopefully she will recover quickly and we can continue our path with her in a while. With a bag full of food, water for 27 km (17 miles) smelling nice in our clean clothes, we are ready for the next 135 km up to Walker Pass.
